Dart does do some blending in the bowl area. I have mine apart right now and am just cleaning the up, not opening them up or modifying the as cast chamber/runners. They clean up pretty easily. For the combustion chambers, I am going to hand sand with a very very small piece of emory cloth to avoid touching the valve seat, then polish with some tripoli compound. I have also lapped a couple of valves and the seat width and pattern is perfect.
