My 4.8 finally died :(
I have a problem with my 4.8 pushing oil out the vac. lines and out the oil dip stick. I was hoping that was just normal with a supercharger but it keep getting worse. It turned out having either broke rings or melted pistons because it has no compression in two of the cylindors. I was thinking about fixing it up with like a forged crank, rods, pistons ect. but the price was going to be really expensive. I thought about it and I think I'm just going to drop a 6.0 in its place. Guess what else decided to die on me yes my transmission.(4l60E)So I made some phone calls and found a 6.0 with 4l80E and they only have 6k miles on them. The price tag for the motor and trans is $3,500. Is that desent price for the two? So what do you think fix 4.8 or go with the 6.0?

Looks like a good price to me. Let's have a moment of silence for the old 4.8L.
Now, get to work with the swap!

If the motor needs to come out then the 6.0 makes the most sense. Only price will be your determining factor.
BTW, the combo price you have is pretty good! Keep us up on the happs.

The 4.8 was a great motor but I think the 6.0 will make up for it Thinks for the help and yes it was just to much blow by the rings or what ever happened but one way or another I'm going to tear into it to see what went wrong. Maybe to many rpms 6800 or to much boost 11psi or maybe to much timing I don't know but I will find out and will keep all of you updated. The crazy thing is I ran a 13.4 at 103 at the drag with it pushing oil into the motor. Thats pretty good when your running on only six good cylinders.
