Default which muffler to get...I know another one.

Well the stock muffler on my 03 GMC RCSB with a 5.3 is starting to rot out. It's only a matter of time before I need a new muffler. The muffler will be welded in stock location with a new magnaflow stainless tailpipe.

What I want:

NO DRONE-MUST
STAINLESS-MUST
Fairly quiet, I want it to sound good, but not be loud, just a tad louder than stock unless you stomp on it pretty much.

So far I'm considering:
Thrush Welded Stainless

Summit Brand Mufflers

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-630430/

MagnaFlow 22"

Input wanted. Thanks

Please make suggestions fit above criteria, and let me know how the mufflers I am considering fit that.

Hmmm... You could prolly do a 18" and it would be just a tad louder than stock. I'm running a 18" on my truck but I have long tubes no cats and its loud when I hammer it but as far as drone there is none. When I'm cruising on the highway at 2300 rpm you can't even hear the exhaust... I really love it. But I'm not sure what it would sound like on a stock truck but I love it on mine.

Your gunna want to stray away from any sort of chambered muffler such as thrush/flowmaster/ aerochambers/ etc if you don't want any drone....

When i stomp on it I just want a little more growl than stock. If I can get more performance & mileage too that would rock, but I'm not really expecting any.

So you're thinking the magnaflow with somewhere between a 18-22" case? I don't want something loud that will aggravate the neighbors.

I think the 22" is a bit much esp on a truck with cats... Mine really not loud unless I'm in it but idleing and cruising its quiet as can be when I hammer it sound like a top fuel

i talked to my buddy at the exhaust shop the other day about a 22" magnaflow. said they put one on a new 6.2L in place of the stock muffler and it was just as quiet as the stock muffler. id also suggest the 18" magnaflow...that way youll get some growl out of it but it still wont be too loud.

Do magnaflows get louder the longer they are on? (do they have to break in?)

I think they do cuz I hated the way mine sounded when I first got it and it was super quiet but now its deeper and alittle louder but the 18" on a stock truck isn't gunna be loud at all
