Let me add that when this tire spin occurs, it is unintended and I certainly don't go out of my way to put on a smoke show. So it's quite possible that our " blowing the tires off" definition varies a bit.

Question

So lets say your cruising right at 50mph, and if you smash the pedal to the floor it will boil "both" rear tires. You would be at the botom of second gear at about that speed. Is that correct?

What iw as saying is that when you jump on it at say 45-50 you are going into the bottom of second where you are making less power and also dont have the power on tap to make that initial shock to the tires to break it loose. Yes my 418 is very torquey thats why I dont understand how you can do it. I have sprign clamps on the springs in the rear thats it. An extended cab truck ahs worse weight transfer than a rc does due to it being longer it has a ahrder time shifting weight over the rear axle. Why do you think 99% of drag trucks are rcsb's? You may very well be able to spin the tires at 50mph but there just ahs to be more to the story. You are probably putting down an honest 550 to the wheels Im guess ming mine will bein the mid to high 400s and Im still no where near leaving a smoke show behind me like you describe, Ill leave faint black marks but thats it. When my nitrous kit gets in and I get the motor tuned in right Ill put a 150 shot to it and if I cant do it then Ill call you a liar if I can then well you have a badass truck. I wont call anybody a liar unless I know for sure and well I dont know for sure oyu cant do it but I think it is highly unlikely unless you have 4:56s or something in the truck.

I re-read my last post. It can be taken two ways. You took it just the opposite of my intended meaning. I do not put on smoke shows is my point. If/ when the tires break loose, I get out of the throttle or shift to third immediately. I concur that you're correct about weight transfer being worse in an extended cab, however a light *** end is, unfortunately, very good for bad traction in any pick-up.

I am also running around 15lbs of boost and my engine has absolutely no problem spinning up very quickly ( aka next to NO lag). I'm sure this doesn't hurt how fast this thing makes it's power ( therefore the "powerband" is really not an issue). Add the fact that I have a reverse manual valvebody, I can stay in whatever gear I like for as long as I like: ie 3500 rpms rolling at 50 in 2nd ( maybe 1/8-1/4 throttle) then mash it to the floor and watch $250 worth of tire go to heaven. And yes, when it's not broke, it's a badass little ride.

Both rear tires will spin a whole hell of a lot....I have a spool ( very bad choice for the street....turns suck horribly and parking in a space has become quite a chore). And ( it's been about a month since I've driven my truck because the crank pulley keeps breaking free from the snout) at 50mph I don't think I'm even out of first yet, although I may be at the "bottom" of second ( which really means nothing at all).

For what it's worth, we really hijacked this poor guy's thread. So now I feel obligated ( as well as motivated) to get her fixed and get some good rolling burnout footage.

You can pretty much forget doing that without getting serious.

BTW guys keep in mind that at 15 psi, that 364 cubes is equivalent to 728 NA cubes. If Badz was here with a 728 motor would you be doubting him?

I believe him, espeically with the tranny he has. That has a lot to do with it. When I had my 60E it would chirp a little at a roll. Sometimes a spin if I caught the top of the gear. With the manual I can spin them how ever I want. Just roll at 50mph and pop the clutch. I bet I could do it going a lot faster too, depending on what gear I down shift into. Being able to hold the gear and down shift into whatever gear, whenever is a huge factor. You have the ability to shock the tires and break them loose.

Oh yeah dude, pin your crank pulley already! WTF?!?
