Default motors in and runs but no oil pressure WTF

i finished up my motor install and started it up. to my surprise i had no oil pressure. the light came on.

i pulled the oil pick up off when i was checking the number on the crank to varify it was a 5.3l. i put it back and bolted it in. everything lined back up. this was all before the install. how fragle is this seal?

im thinking about swaping the oil sensor off my old motor with the one on the new one to see if it is just the sensor.

if not i guess i got to pull the front diff and drop the pan

Did you have the oil pump off? I think it was Quik that had acidently put the wrong o-ring back in with the oil pump and had no oil pressure on his motor.

i only pulled the pick up off to check the casting numbers on the crank. didn't do anythig else with the oil pump.

the seal looked fine when i had it off, it was only off for a minute to write down the numbers then i put it all back together.

ok well i haven't been working on the truck. taking a little brake. but i started it for ***** and giggles today and let it run just a little longer. ban it finially built oil pressure like 5 seconds after the light came on. so i let it run for a minute. the oil pressure dropss off and starts going back down to like 10PSI. WTF is wrong with it?

here is a video

Link is bad and so is your seal between the pick up tube and the oil pump. It is VERY easy to screw up that o-ring if you arent careful. This is all theoretical of course when assuming the motor is good to begin with.
