Motor swap questions
Just some quick newb questions. I have a 2000 silverado 4x4 with the 4.8 with a NV3500 behind it. The motor has 211k on it and I am looking to get a motor to start rebuilding and working on it as monies permit. I would like to replace the motor with a 5.3 or even a 6.0 if it would work. With my truck being a 5 speed does that limit me to what motors I can get or will any of the motors within certain years bolt up. I remember reading somewhere there were different cranks that were used and that would cause some issues pertaining to the pilot bearing. There is a 2001 5.3 i can pick up for 200 bucks locally to me is why i ask.
Plans are to do a basic rebuild with rings, bearings, clean up on the pistons or replace if need be, clean up the cylinder walls. For the cam i was thinking of the TSP 220 with a 112LSA package. I understand this is a decent cam for a truck that is a DD. Wouldnt mind to look into some different heads, but nothing out there in left field. Would be running LPP long tubes, no cats, with a standard cat back exhaust. Trans was rebuilt last year so that is good to go. Wouldnt mind upgrading the clutch, but not to sure what all is available for the truck market or what will interchange.
Sorry for the long post just like to have my ducks in a row before I start throwing money at something. Any other insite would be great or places to look for additional information is always appreciated.

Thats what i was thinking. I found this link which shows that the flanges were changed on the motors.

It appears that if I get a motor 99+ that was in an automatic i need the spacer and the special pilot bushing. Unless I come across a 6.0 that was out of a 99 or 2000 then I would be set to run what I have as the flange on teh crankshaft is the same thickness.

Well I guess this narrows down my search to looking for a 99-2000 LQ4. No sense in putting in another 4.8 or worrying about spacers and special bolts and what not. How would the TSP220 on a 112LSA like the 6.0 or are there better choices for a cam. I love the lopey sound that these motors have with a cutout. Again not looking to make a racetruck since I only have a NV3500 behind it. Any input on a upgraded clutch assembly since I might as well put something nicer in there besides stock while it is apart?
