Default Motor build advice needed-drop compression or keep it stock??

I am having a hard time deciding on whether or not I should stick with the stock compression of the 6.0 or drop it some. I know a little lower compression would help prevent detonation in warmer and hot weather, but wont I lose some of my low end torque?? I know I could allways run more boost to make up, but according to Whipple i'm allready running the smallest pulley they offer. I could maybe get a custom pulley made, but then belt slippage could become an issue. Should I just keep the compression stock and keep my fingers crossed they will have an intercooler ready one of these years?

drop it, with the blower you'll makeup for the little low end torque you lose if any. what kind of CR are you looking to drop it to anyways?

Yeah, just half a point won't make any noticable difference in stock power, and will help eliminate some of your problems in hot weather, but it more than makes it up in the boost department.

Ask me this question in a couple weeks. I just got all my stuff back from the machine shop today-just got home with it about 30 minutes ago, actually. I am dropping mine. It should be around 8.6 or so. I can post up what it actually is after I cc it. I bought some pistons with -15cc dishes, the ones I did have were -8, I think. I am super busy right now so it may take me a while to get the thing built. Your cam selection will also dictate what you should do with the compression.

I was thinking about dropping it to 8.5 or 9.0. I think stock is 9.4 on the lq4 6.0??
I will most likely be running the stock cam. I will probably just have enough money for a basic build, so it will most likely just be forged pistons with arp bolts, everything else stock.

I'm at the same point with my LQ4 engine, and have the same questions. I believe they are 9.6:1 stock, and was thinking of going to 8.5:1 as the engine builder suggested and then running 10lbs of boost.
That was before whipple told me they may never actually get an intercooler done for the 6.0, or at least not for quite awhile, so now I'm thinking of 9.1:1 cr with the comp cam of 206/212-515/522 with a 114LS and some bigger injectors to go with the head work, and running the one step smaller pulley I currently run @ 7.5 lbs. My engine builder tells me this should be good for another 75-100 more hp, which would be plenty. If they ever do come out with an intercooler, I guess you could add some boost at that point.
Keep us posted on what you do, as I'd like to get some more info on this issue (especially tuning this whipple with the new mods!)

I think a bigger cam than 206/212 would make a lot more power without losing boost as long as you keep the valve overlap as low as possible.I'm going with a 228/234 .588/.598 114+4 for my new setup that has only 1 degree of overlap.I'm also going with 9.0:1 forged pistons.
