Default motor or blower

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243997

I was just browsing through another area in this forum and found this thread, I was just curious what everyone thought about this, a nice 402 that is very capable of 500 reliable hp, with out all of the headache of a turbo or blower? I know it is a short block, but cant you use the cpu, heads, fuel system, from a 5.3 to bolt on, then tune for it. I was just wondering what some of you guys thought. That seems like a pretty good deal to me. I know some guys are going to say the tubo gives you more options, but hell in these trucks anything more that 450hp seems to just be a nightmare for breaking things, terrible traction problems, meth injection, and all of the other problems with forced induction. Why not just drop 4000.00 in the motor and be done with it, (yea right) but it sounds good in theory right. What are your opinions?

That seems pretty logical to me. I mean a radix blower costs upwards of $5000, and I would think that this motor would have more power than a blown 4.8 or 5.3.

If I had it to do over again I would have gone N/A motor like a mean 6.0L or perhaps a 402/408. Then, if I still wanted to make more power after chewing up the drivetrain (rear end and tranny), I would have explored lowering the compression and F/I options like a turbo or blower.

Its not nearly as simple as that.
At this point I say take the Radix over a 400+ cuber as I don't think the long term reliability is quite there yet.

I Would Rather Build Up A Motor From Bottom Up To Run 600hp Instead Of Just Throwin A Blower Or Turbo On It To Get The Same.

well, I disagree there , but I do think both would be lots of fun

anyway, I've heard that very statement a hundred times, any motor making 600hp is alright by me, even the gutter turbos
