More lowering questions...

OK, my front lowering springs, advertised to drop the front 1" actually put it down over 2". It looks GOOD, but now my 2" rear drop shackles aren't enough. The truck has a pretty sharp rake to it. I need to go down about another inch in the back. What's the next step as far as that goes? Products, brands, and prices would be appreciated.
Also, I'm clearly going to need an airbag setup for towing. Who has the best one out there for the money?
Be gentle- I'm fairly ignorant about all this stuff

Depends on how much you want to go in the back. Do you want it level or a slight rake? To level it out (since you went down 2" in the front) you need 4" in the back. Since you already have the 2" shackles you need some hangers now and reuse you factory leafs. Or you could trade in your shackles and get 4" leafs. If you only want 3" in the back, you may have to go with a 2" hanger and 1" shackle. Dont know of anyone that makes a 2" leaf or 1" hanger. Hope this helps.

are there any side effects to getting these springs to drop your car instead of buying an actual djm lowering kit or something of that sort?(ride quality, handling, turning radius, etc...)
just curious
thanks

Kristi... here is a link to a good place to get lowering componets online www.stylinconcepts.com
As far as the front springs go they should not effect turning radius at all and depending on which spring you go with you will get different ride characteristics. I am going with the Hotchkis 2/4 sport springs on my truck to lower my center of gravity and improve handleing. The springs are progressive rate so they should ride good under normal conditions but stiffen up in the corners.

I got a super deal on the Trenz, so I got it, against the advice of someone on this board who bought a Trenz grille only to discover it didn't fit. Luckily mine fit and it looks really great. It's amazing how a grille, window tint, and lowering can change the whole attitude of the truck!! I can't wait to get some wheels!

My new truck has been thru alot in its two short weeks of life:
bed mat and locking tailgate handle at 60 miles (1 day old)
On the Dynojet at 200 miles (3 days old)
At the dragstrip at 600 miles (6 days old)
New wheels/tires at 640 miles (7 days old)
Lowered 2" in rear at 1000 miles (13 days old)
I'm not sure if I want to tint the front windows yet. How will the ladies check me out then? hehe
Denali style grille is next. Then the truck will look good enough for me. I still want a HPP3 and the K&N because I've seen first hand how good the gains are on those two items. Then I move into the stereo..... things tend to go overboard with me and stereos....

Oh yeah, I forgot I still have a 432ci Formula on the way! There goes some truck mod-money!

The 2" drop springs in the front, won't hurt any turnig characterstics. As far as hanger VS. springs. Here is my opinion. If you go with springs, you will loose some of your towing capacities. I have a 2" hanger/2" shackle for a 4" drop on my truck. Since you already have most of it done, go with the hangers. They should be less than $75. I will warn you, the driver side is a %$#&@ to install w/o dropping the gas tank, but can be done. I al;so went with airshocks instead of helper bags. Airshocks $59.99 with a lifetime warranty. Helper bags and compressor pushing $300+. I did have to replace one on this last camping trip though. But hey Autozones are everywhere and shocks, take 15 min to change, so no lost time. Just a good excuse to play with the truck and drink beer while camping.

i bought 4" leaf springs and it only lowered it 3". so just buy hangers. i believe belltech or DJM makes 1-2" drop hangers. i would advise to drop the tank. it is not hard to do.
