Default mods sugestions for new guy!

got a 02 sierra ext cab , 5.3 . 3.73 , flowmaster cat back , upd intake ,denali front clip ,goodmark cowl hood , 18 wheels and nittos, hotchkis suspinsion , daily driver on a budget and thinking of edelbrock shortys(cant really afford longtubes) and maybe a ls6 cam? then ls1 edit . hows this sound and about what would i be looking at power wise? do you have another suggestion for the cam and do i need defferent springs or pushrods for any cam swap? its a daily driver and i pull a box trailer for work but this is also my toy and the tralier is the only part that touches the truck as for as work goes. would like a little tq for pulling and for play on friday and sat. nights.

i think you are headed in the right direction with the cam and programmer (LS1Edit). save your money and wait to buy long tube headers. my suggestion is ASM, TOG's, or FLP's.

I would just save up for long tubes. However, if you insist on shorties, go with JBA. Other than that sounds like you are on the right track.

Try also:

ASP underdrive pulley set
Electric Fans
Ported TB
Skip that Z06 cam, its powerband is too high w/o stall. A larger dual pattern is better like a 214/220 .520/.540 114LSA. It will keep idle vac, idle well, and have a powerband for a 4500lbs+ truck, not a 3100lbs Z06.

Wait to get long tubes, shorty's just don't gain that much low end power.

After it all, then get tuned.

Maybe think about a TT3000 from Yank. Everyone I talk to says to expect about 4 to 5 tenths from a converter swap plus you keep your factory towing capacity. This is gonna definately be my next mod. I have a 2000 EC 5.3 with 3.42 gears, manaflow cat back, AEM intake, and HPPIII programmer. Sunday it went 14.98 at 92 mph. Out of 5 runs that day, my worst run was a 15.17. It seems like we have close to the same set up, what kind of times have you run if any? I'm sure they are real close to mine if you haven't had a chance to run it.
