Default Modifying MAF body question

Can I cut down the length of the MAF body and still have it work properly?
I had a custom intake idea and thought I would ask before I did something I would regret.

Thanks

Unless you have a way to rebuild the MAF tables (i.e. a tuner like EFI Live, HPT) leave the MAF alone. If you do have a tuner, you can ditch the MAF and learn to do SD tune.
