misfire is on my damn nerves

Probably a bad spark plug, that will give you the symptoms you described. A misfire while raining (or even on a humid day) is a classic symptom of a failing ignition component, and the fact that it happened right after the header install, and the wires are new, leads me to believe that a plug probably has a hairline crack in the porcelain. (or carbon tracking like AKlowriderZ71 mentioned)
