Default Misfire code after cam swap

I'm still getting SES codes for misfires. The truck runs just fine, just keeps pulling these random misfire codes!

Anyone have any ideas? Where should I start looking? Plugs, maybe?

If it's running fine, you probably just need to modify the low speed misfire parameters. The PCM sees the slight cam lope as the engine misfiring.

Well, I guess I'm going to HAVE to get EDIT sooner or later! I guess sooner!

A crank position re-learn might do it. You would need a tech II

can't you just unhook the battery and let it sit for a while then it should relearn to the new cam? mine has been setting the PS300 code since my new cam as well...but it doesn't do it every day...maybe every other or so.

Since that's a fairly mild cam, you might be able to bump the idle speed by 50 or so and get out of the bad area. But it still requires some type of device to do it.

You can't really relearn a cam from a misfire standpoint. It's looking at an amount of time (in milliseconds) between pulses, which it equates to rpm variation and assumes misfire when it falls out of the specified time between pulses. With LS1 Edit, YOU specify the time between pulses for a pass/fail. Pretty neat stuff!

you don't have to have edit to bump the idle on the trucks(not sure if it's the same for the cars) you can just move the idle cable or whatever that thing is and idle it up...you can adjust idle with it running until you like where it is.

Are you getting KR? If so. the PCM sees the lope and sets the DTC.

i'm setting the code, but seeing no knock retard at all. pretty much all cams will throw the PS300 code, except a stock cam, like an SS cam in a 4.8/5.3 or an LS6 cam in a 4.8/5.3
