Default Mileage decrease before my Turbo install?

Just before I put my STS base kit on I saw my mileage drop a little. Nothing huge but still wondering why it happened.
Before the STS install I did the top end cleaner, cleaned and re-oiled my drop in K+N (not too much oil) as well as a fuel filter.
My truck got about 15-18 mpg before all this. Mostly 15-16 with a mix of city and freeway driving. I know the mileage was pretty good even for a stock truck at the time.
Its hard to say why it dropped off because I did all these things inside of one tankful of gas.
Yesterday I took out my MAF and cleaned it with contact cleaner and blew it out with low pressure (40 psi) compressed air. Hoping it helps even though the MAF was free of any oil from the K+N before I did the STS.
Supposedly the STS kit will increase mileage if you keep your foot out of it.
I did allot of freeway driving last week for work and got about 14mpg with a steady 70-75mph cruising speed.
Do I need to stay below 70 mph to realize a mileage increase? I know there is always a trade off for my power, I'm just trying to tweak everything out of the base kit before I upgrade so I have a solid baseline to learn from.

Maybe I should post this in the general topics section?
