Which is better? I'm kind of debating, either LaPole or AS&M. The LaPole are $600 I'm thinking I should go ahead save the extra $130 and get the AS&Ms. I'm kinda scared that I might loose some power with the AS&Ms since I don't have any tuning besides the Jet PCM. I don't know if my truck would run lean, rich, or just right with the AS&Ms considering I have the GMS Mass Airflow Sensor and the Jet PCM. I don't know anything about a/f ratios, plus I don't have any way of knowing it would be anyway (LS1 Edit,etc.). Please someone help me out! Taxes are coming up, so I don't have that much time!
Thanks
Richard

u sure you dont have that backwards? as&m's are long tubes last time i checked. and from what i remember the lapoles were basically the same as the hamms which are mid lengths
either way, long tubes are better technically but there went be much of a difference between the two really

If you are spending that much money then you might as spend $130 more for the long tubes. I am not sure about the lean/rich but I think I read somewhere that headers richen it a little bit, but I would think it would be fine with the Jet PCM. How is your Jet PCM? They screwed me over a while back and I will never deal with them again. Basically they sent me a piggyback chip for my V6 Dakota. Well we plugged it in and it would turn over, but wouldn't start. We called tech and tried everything, even my cousin's V6 Ram would do the same thing. After removing the chip, the trucks would start perfect. I sent it back for a refund, and the dealer sent it back to Jet where they said nothing is wrong with it. They both accused me of "changing my mind and making the story up." Sorry just venting. I know no company can make 100% of its customers happy, but this was ridiculous.

Just to let you know. That extra $130 is spent on less than an inch in length from my Hamms and the ASMs. I'm pretty sure the LaPoles are the same as the Hamms. Either of them average just over 20hp/20tq peak.

I have the hamms and a buddy has the LaPoles. The primarys are nearly identical on the pass side and on tube take a different route to get around the steering shaft on the drivers side. My collectors have a flat collector flange where his are ball/socket type. Other than that they are pretty much the same. We both got the same gains out of them.

CrashDudeHomie: The Jet PCM works good. I could feel a good difference with it, plus when I'm going about 25-35mph it barks the tires harder than it used to.
BigKID: How much of a gain did your buddy get with the LaPoles? Was it throughout all the rpms?

Would you still have to have a muffler shop fab up some parts if you went with the mid-lengths instead of the long tubes. I know the shorties are a direct bolt-up, but how do the mid-lengths fit? Any fabbing required?

Yeah, a little bit. I've e-mailing John Finnel at LaPole Headers and he tried to get me to buy his custom Y-pipe. I e-mailed him telling him that I had true duals and that I don't have a y-pipe. He made it sound like if I didn't have a muffler with a straight-through design that I wasn't worried about power, just sound. BS But I've heard people say that there IS welding and fabrication to be done. I don't know whats involved though.

I dont have any exact nymbers for you but can give you realworld examples. We would always test our new mods by racing each other. (better unbiased results that way) He got his headers about two months before me. We were evenly matched before his headers (I has single exhaust he had the true duals already) Afterwards he would pull me about a truck and a half 0-80. After my headers and true duals we were perfectly matched! When I say perfect I mean that whoever got the best launch would only win by inches. Like I said not actuall numbers but you can get the idea of the gains.
