metal shavings on oil magnet?????

Default metal shavings on oil magnet?????

buddy just called me thinking i was some kind of mechanic lol. the last 3 or 4 times he's changed the oil on his low milage 5.3 (68,000 miles) he has had some shavings on the magnet on the plug you pull from the oil pan. he's freaking out. he uses mobil 1 10w30 and changes it every 3K. BTW he drives like a bat outa hell... i told him i would figure it out for him. whats up with this?

some little shavings is just normal, kind of depends on the size

tell him his engine is junk then watch him cry for awhile then tell him its normal.... small shavings happen all the time.... tell him to freak if they get big

if they are bigger tahn fileings theres a problems somehwere

i'll give you a hint tho

it can be anywhere metal contacts metal and spins or slides

so do all of you guys get metal shavings on the magnet?? ive never had any metal shavings on my magnet...does that mean something is wrong my my motor?

I changed mine Saturday and there was a little bit of superfine metal on the magnet... I wouldnt even call them shavings though... I would say what he has is absolutely normal... and I drive mine HARD every day.
