Default mass airflow sensor & LS1Edit

I am getting LS1Edit and my truck seems like it just lost power after my last few boltons. I have my mafs descreened. Should I get a new MAFS before I do LS1 edit? Or will edit correct for any mess ups that the descreening did? I am asking this because in the past I have heard a lot about it being bad to descreen mafs. Is this true??

Please give me some advice. I just want to get the most out of my truck. I have every bolt on and I am running 14.8 with a regular cab 5.3. The only thing I don't have is cutouts. I am hoping my programming is WAY WAY WAY off. When I take out HPP3, I run 15.3. That is about a stock truck don't you think? Please help.

Don't forget '99s have smaller cams than the '00+... that is about a 15hp diff in the cams.

I would get a new maf, or a used one from Ebay or a forum. When I descreened my stock one, intially it felt great, alot more low end. Over time though, the truck got considerable slower. A new maf is like $100 from www.gmpartsdirect.com , do a price search on there using the number off of your maf.

What are your 60's with those nittos??? My mods are very similiar except I have the KN/ stock maf/tb and a built tranny. I have the hyp set at 58-5900 shift points, and running MT et streets. My truck has 50,000 miles. Have you ever scanned the truck or seen if evrything is up to par?

Does anyone have the specs, comparitivly to the 99 and 2000+ cams. I have always heard they where differant but havn't seen it in writing or in person. Even the Ls1 book I have is vague on the matter. 15-20 more horse would be nice right about now.

i descreened my MAF too. one day we had the scan tool on it and the MAF throw us a code. i hate to waste the money for another stock MAF. would it be worth it just to get a Granatelli? anyone used one of these and notice any gains?

No I have never scanned it to see. My best 60 ft was 2.0 with the nittos. I understand the cam thing but I still should be running faster than this without the cam!!How do I get it scanned?

No one has answered my question yet about if the LS1Edit will compensate for the descreening of my MAFS????

Yes and no... You can compensate you maf table to give it more/less fuel for a given reading on the meter. However it will now correct the actuall incorrect reading from the mafs. You will need some sort of scanner to see how much to correct you maf table though. You want you long term fuel trims (l-trims or l-terms) to be as close to zero as possible when not wot. Once that is set you can adjust you PEvsRPM table to get you O2 reading close to .900. So, If you maf is not dead then no, you do not need another meter before you get edit.
BTW.. I have a similar delima as you. I have nearly the same mods and am also only running a 14.8 but the truck didn start feeling really bad till here recently after installing the Yank.
