The stock intake is already a "cold air" intake. You might get a little better airflow with a smother path to the intake and maybe 5-8 more horsepower. Not a big $ to horsepower ratio on the cia's. I say make your own if you haven't already bought one.

How do you exactly make your own? What all is involved...I was really liking the Outlaw intake.

If you are asking about a different MAF, I wouldn't bother. Pull the screen out of the stocker if you want, supposedly picks up a bit of power.

I have never really heard of massive gains from changing the MAF unless you have a hella F/I motor...I think the MAF on these trucks are good. As a matter of fact on my Z28 I had I ordered a SLP MAF which was nothing more than a 6 litre truck MAF. Does that tell you anything?

Not hard to make your own. Just some couplers an elbow and either use the stock airbox or a cone filter. Do a search there is all kinds of info on here like this. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...3&page=1&pp=10

There are several pictures of both home made and purchased cia's there. I think there are some links to a few places to buy parts too.

I have to disagree. Don't de-screen the MAF unless you are prepared to deal with the possible problems that ensue. The minuscule added horsepower you might get is not worth problems that you might end up with. That screen is in there for a very good reason.

Every Chevy I have ever had I have descreen the MAF and I have never had a problem. If you are going on the logic that the WIDGET is there for a reason then why do we mod anything?

You can either get some pipe that is bent to deal with getting around the hose or use some rubber or silicone bend couplers. Silicone is usually more expensive and not necessary unless you are dealing with forced induction. Check ebay, you can find mandrel bent pipe on there for reasonable prices.
