Don't get me wrong, the Magnaflow stuff will last a while, but it will still rust eventually. If you're not going to keep the truck for a long time, go Magnaflow. I wanted a "once and forget it" type exhaust, so I went Corsa. I had Borla on my previous truck and it still looked great after 5 years in the salt, etc.

I used to have a SLP cat back on my '01 Monte Carlo SS that was T409SS...it lasted about 3 years before the noise/drone made me take it off. The pipes had quite a bit of surface rust but the mufflers were starting to rot at the ends. BUT, also might have to do w/ the fact that there was no drain holes in them, not sure if Magnaflow has them...I know the factory ones do as does Corsa. Having moisture trapped in the muffler isn't a good thing.

Save yourself some money and just swap out the muffler. The stock exhaust piping is stainless and will last forever. Unless you're seriously stepping up the power (400+HP) a full catback is a waste of money. If you're stuck on dual exit get a full stainless Magnaflow single-in dual-out and have a shop bend you a couple of exit pipes. Parts and labor should cost you $200-$250 total.

Borla & Corsa = Made for rich people but sounds pretty good
Magnaflow = Afforable but quiet at idle and not really loud enough for me.
SLP Loudmouth = A bit higher than Magnaflow but much louder and more aggressive

I have had corsa on my truck for three years and still love it. They have sound clips on their web site.

I'm not willing to hack up the factory system. It's perfect, and honestly shouldn't be replaced. But, I have a V8, and I want to hear it. Maybe I won't like a catback, so I'd like to be able to put the stock setup back on.

Like I said earlier, I had a borla setup on my ford explorer, and it sounded great for a v6. I can only imagine it sounding great on a V8, but possibly a little too loud in the cabin (The V6 had one hell of a drone, with the borla). Plus, it started rotting out at the Cat-flange, so it had to be replaced. I don't plan on keeping the pickup for too long, 5 years at the most, I'd say. As soon as I graduate, I'll be bringing in a good paycheck, so I'm sure I'll be looking for a new ride after that. Magnaflow may be the way i go.

There's a nice shop down the street that might be able to bend me up a nice system, but I feel I won't be getting the performance a Bolt on set would give me (they claim about 20hp increase with the SI/SO setup, but there's no stats on the SI/DO setup. Although, if I did get it custom bent, I'm sure I could have them tuck it up high, and come out right after the wheels with some nice rectangle tips (just like on the Gibson Sport Truck Exhaust, that exits one side, before the wheels)

I have Magnaflows on my 05 CCSB and like them alright. I have Borla on my red 02 Silverado and love them. Corsa sound really good just lil to pricey for my taste.

(Just as an aside, I want to be sure i know what resonance is, as you guys are referring it. It's the sound heard in the vehicles interior, right?)

I know I'm beating this thread to death, but I'm pretty much set on the corsa setup... new problem though. Anybody know the difference between the sport models and touring models?
