To Maganaflow Or Not
It's time to do my exhaust. My truck has the 6 liter Vortec Max wit 2, 3 inch pipes to the muffler. For the past year I have read almost every thread on muffler choices. I have decided on this Maganaflow part # 12599, I think.
I will be dissapointed if it is not a little bit louder, but if it's real loud and pops or has a raspy sound when I let off the gas I won't be happy.
This may be my other choice part # 12469.
The 12469 is a little smaller so I'm thinking more sound. The 12469 says it's for older trucks 1995-1999.
The 12599 says it is for my 2006, other than size what is the difference between the 2 mufflers?
I will either put turndowns in front of the rear axle or tuck 2 turndowns up close to the bumper with both of them on the passenger side.
I dont want to invest a lot into the exhaust because my ultimate goal is an STS turbo.
Any input is appreciated.

my magnaflow single in dual out sounds a little louder at idle and then around 2k sounds really good while driving, and then when you let off it sounds nice. The only time i have ever gotten it to pop is having it sit at idle and just mashing the gas and then it pops.

Just cut the can open chisle out all the stock material and weld a 3'' tube straight through. Then weld the can back shut. It sonds low and rumbly below 3500 but above that at WOT it sounds pretty loud. But for free, its somthing everyone else dosnt have and its good at cruising speeds, by good I mean livible no anyoing reverb. And if you want it to be a little quieter, just drill some holes in the tubing.

Thanks for the Idea, my truck has 2, 3inch pipes in, and 2 out.
It would be more work than i want to do for an exhaust that would probably be louder than I want.
Plus I need to do something about the crappy 2 into 1 tail pipe.
I ordered the maganaflow today, $139 delivered to my front door.

I’ve had that same Magnaflow you are going with and you will get some drone out of it between 1700 to 2200 RMP's. Unfortunately with the 6L it is hard to find an exhaust that won't drone. I've had Flowmaster, Magnaflow, Magnaflow with glass packs (to kill the drone), Spintech and now i am going to a dual in single out Magnaflow and a resonator if necessary.
