Yah, I was thinking about moving it to the throttle body. The stock tube from air box to engine has that strange chamber. I think it messes up my response. Anybody?

I did a little testing with it mated up against the throttle body. It did seem like the truck was a little more responsive with it there. But, my truck runs different every day, it could have ust been one of its "good" days. I had no problems with it there.

The wire can be pulled back out of the wire loom and unhooked from the little retainer keeping it in place. Then it has plenty of room to reach the throttle body.

I moved it back so I could keep my wet nitrous behind the MAF.

I read an article that said that placing the MAF up against the throttle body is the IDEAL location since there is no room for any air leaks in this position as opposed to 3' away in the factory set up. This makes sense. How are you able to plumb the filter with the MAF up against the throttle body. The 90* turn the plemum has to make is already very tight without making it even tighter. How did you acomplish this feat?

It is easier to do it you install electric fans and eliminate the clutch fan and fan shroud.

I may try this just for ***** & giggles . You could use the OEM clamp that connects the maf to the air box, that could connect the MAF to the TB. then use a filter for a 96-98 Vortec, just slip it on the end of the maf!? And it just so happens, I do have electric fans . The only thing this would cost me is the filter, whats another $15-20 for a paper filter to see if it works, if not, return the filter! .

I used a fernco brand rubber connector that I picked up at the Home Depot in the PVS / plumbing section. It fwit perfectly over the TB and the end of the MAF. Its about 4" wide, so I trimmed an inco off of it. This let the MAK sit about 1/2" away from the TB.

I started thinking about this last night and wondered if it was a good mod? It does probably increase throttle response moving the MAF next to the TB but at what cost to performance. With the filter directly behind the radiator, it would pull in hot engine air, not good. The ram-air I have not pulls most of it's air from outside the truck, which is good. I may try and connect the MAF to the TB but still use the airbox and the ram-air set up. I'll try an find an elbow to run a piece of pipe or duct and connect it to the airbox to keep the ram-air intacked. I'll look at it and see, may be more trouble than it's worth for a little extra throttle response. I don't want the intake looking hookie.
