Default MAF and pinging?

OK, I have decided to remove my MAF that has been descreened and replace it with a new stock unit with the screen. Now, do i need to reset the pcm? The reason for me putting the maf with screen back in is because I get pinging once and a while. I run 87 gas with stock hpp3 87 tune and raised shift points. I have the 160 stat. For some reason I still get pinging once and a while. This has been happening on and off for about 10 months now so I am replacing the maf with a new one. Any suggestions??

Have you tried going to a higher octane gas, 89 or 91?
