I would imagine cutting the airbox did the most. I've said it before, look at the intake on those and look at the intake on the truck.

Hey, read this
MAF Descreening
Take a look at what 964pt3 posts and the thread that James B. posts as well

But do what you want man, I'd search for power elsewhere
You want an additional 1RWHP? The flap that's right by your intake, push it down. I gained 1.3RWHP on the dyno and is way easier than doing the MAF descreen

Yes I concur with Chingy, the additional airflow from the hacked air box allowed the additional power. The descreened MAF doesn't really cause power losses (or gains) or that EGR thingee either.
I've said it before and again... Free Mods are Free for a reason, they suck.

I descreened mine. Didn't do $hit for me, I then swapped MAF with my Dad's 01 ext cab Z71 (I hope they're the same)(I figure if it does make it run lean, then his pig of a truck would be better off lean for the gas mileage), still didn't notice much of anything. It seems to idle smoother though.

hey chingy, my point was a respond to hit man saying free mods suck. They got 10rwhp, which i consider not to shabby for free. I wasn't even referring to the maf descreen even though it was included in GMHTP's write up. thanks for the wonderful info, again. even though i've seen it over and over on the last 3 damn pages of this thread
