Does anyone have an aftermarket MAF in their truck ? I bought one about a year ago, had it for a day and took it back. This is why. I put it n right there in the parking lot of where I got it and drove from Houston to Freeport w/o a problem. Then after a few hours when I left, about 10 miles into the trip, the truck would not get over 2000 rpm w/o stalling. I got home finnally and swaped them back out and everything was fine. Until recently. Now I am suspecting a lean condition at WOT. I bought a laptop w/ ATAP on it but still don't have it I may be getting the shaft, I don't know yet. So give me your opinions on the MAF and what I can do about it. Could I have just got a bad one ? Is it worth trying again ? Or shoul I drop $$ and get a translator ?

personanly i think the bigger MAF is over rated. but it would help it you got the MAF translator and corrected your truck running too lean. but with out the translator it is probably pointless. i didnt really notice a gain with mine.

well i had a noticable difference on mine. before the maf a friend with a dodge r/t was pulling car length after car length. afterwards we were even. but that was on the street, on the strip i didn't gain but a 1/10 or 2/10. i hope that helps your decision.

My GMS maf lowers my 0-60 times by .15 seconds, which is all Granatelli claims it will do. I de-screened my stock maf and it worked great AT FIRST, but after about 500 miles, they truck was considerable slower and I lost mpg. Granatelli claims removing the screen will make a truck run lean because the electronics need to be upgraded for the increased air flow also. I bought mine off of e-bay for $125, for that price, it's definitly worth it to me. For $339, ???

yeah, but like bigtex says, the GMS gains most of its power by leaning out your truck. this is good on stock, but with more mods you could be actually losing power. espeically bad on something like a nitrous
i still think the maft is best route, as you do more mods you can adjust it to suit your needs, where with the gms or something of that sort you will have to stay with their programming. i have mine descreened and right now my 02's usually run at around .88-.9 so those are some pretty good o2s for all motor running

im running an MAFT on mine, i like it alot, before i was running really rich. i leaned it out and gained 1/2 - 1 car. would work just the same for richening yours. im glad i spent the money on this though, fun to play with too

The translator connects in between your MAF and computer. It gets the readings from the MAF, then distorts them (according to your settings) when sending to the computer. This way your computer thinks it is getting more or less air and adds or takes out fuel accordingly. That way you can richen up or lean out your charge.
From what I read, a granitelli MAF outputs slightly skewed #s to the PCM. I think they gain power by leaning out the mix some, as I hear our vehicles run a little rich stock. BUT, the Gmaf is calibrated for use on a stock or slightly modded vehicle. The more mods you do, the more the Gmaf could be hurting you.
