Uhhh.....Chrome plated intake tube= heat conductor! Either way you don't gain much off of a CAI kit (I agree)....but I bet the Volant, K&N, and equivelant CAI kits(with plastic or aluminum intake tubes) will have better Torque and HP gains over the MAC CAI kit.

i'm not 100% sure which brand...i believe it was true flow...did a test on plastic vs metal intake tubes and they subjected it to high surrounding heat, and the plastic and metal didnt make a difference. if i remember right, it was pretty scientific with dyno tunes and controlled conditions and such. their website is newer now and i dont see it on there, but maybe someone remembers this study and can chime in
