That's gotta be the thing I like most about this site... after a little hazing (which is always fun to do) someone will still put up some useful info.

So what are your current mods? There's probably a better place to start than with the LS6 intake since it is such a PITA to swap.

ive been trying to figure out excalty what motor i have in my truck. its a late model 06, turns out i have the L59 aluminum block flex-fuel 5.3. dont know that its any different than the lm4 or lm7 other than its ethanol capable. anyway, on the truck right now is k&n aircharger intake, gibson stainless headers and flowmaster delta flow 3 chamber cat-back exhuast. next is diablo-sport programmer. i have a set of 862 heads (mine are 706) i was gonna port and build up. long term plans are cam, heads, programmer or dyno-tune, tranny work, brakes and pretty much everything cosmetic.

Hmm, this will be intresting to see a build up of a flex fuel engine. It's bound to create some interesting quirks as you go along. I'd put the LS6 manifold after all of those other performance mods.

Before you buy anything else read. And read alot. Skip the programmer and dump the short tube headers. You can keep the flowmaster for now. I'm not trying to be an ***, I just don't want to see you waste money. I have and everybody else here has so don't make the same mistake.

well the headers are on the truk so ill leave them for now. id like to get a hand held programmer for now just to experiment, ill definitely get a custom tune when the major upgrades are done. right now im reading the horror stories about the transmissions and am considering making my next upgrade a 4l85e or just building a seperate 6.0/4l853 combo, which would take a lot longer. then im also considering buying an 06 gto when the new camaro comes out to have that as a toy and leaving my truck alone. ive never had v8 before and ive never had options like this before, i think my heads gonna explode. either way youre right on one thing, ill be reading for months before i touch anyting else. thanks for the help.
