Default LS6 engine in 2004 Silverado

Hey guys trying to see if anybody has input on this topic. Has anybody installed or thought about installing the LS6 (427) engine in a Silverado. Wonder what would be involved in a engine transplant like that and on top of that could a supercharget be installed on the LS6. I would love to run the 6speed transmission. I already have a 5 speed on truck now. I also have an exhaust with headers on a 4.8 in truck, could I use those on the LS6. Any and all input and info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Itll go in there... But... LS6 isnt a 427, the LS7 is. Its an easy swap and easy to supercharge any LS motor. Tranny area will definitely need some attention.

actually the ls6 is a 346ci.in. the ls7(427) has 505hp at the crank stock

you have to deal with the dry sump oiling system thats why not many ahve done the swap and IMO its not worth it unless you are going for the uniqueness factor IMO its easier and cheaper to do a 408 stroker with 500-550 rwhp and then you can build it to your specs and then put a blower on it and make tons of power

the 6speed aka t56 takes a little masaging to fit but it will go in there

How would an ls6 hold up in a truck setup? What I am asking is, is it worth it to put in an ls6 over a slightly modded lq4 or 9?

it would probably be cheaper to go the lq9 with ls6 heads and intake route

But if price wasnt the issue, which one will perform better in a truck?

Hey nightrunner, could specify more on the 408. what block and heads are we talking about? Where can I find info on the specs on this set-up, as far as cam, heads, compression etc.

well its a 6.0L block with a 4" stroker crank and a .030 over bore on the cylinders

and you can make it any compression or heads/cam/intake combo you want

if you were going to put a blower on it, id go with some big, high-flowing heads, low-compression pistons, forged crank, rods, and pistons, a fairly large cam, and the Whipple 3.3L or the kenneBell 2.8L with about 14psi of boost thats about 700-800 rwhp
