Default LS6 cam, why or why not for me.

I’ve search the forum and it seems like it’s 6 one-way half a dozen the other on a 2002+ LS6 cam in a truck. I have a 2003 5.3L Avalanche 1500 4x4 with a 3.73 rear and was thinking about putting the cam from my 03 ZO6 in it. I have what I need for a cam swap just sitting around the house and lots of free time. I also have no real reason to put a cam in the truck but I was thinking that if it didn’t really affect drivability that much, I could get a little extra power, and I have the time and the parts, why not. The truck mainly sees city driving and I might help my brother tow stuff but that would be rare. I want to keep the stock converter, I will put headers on it at some point, I have a catback and CAI, and would like not to loose any highway passing ability if it was ever needed. I have lots of experience with 6 speed cars and cams but none with trucks and automatics. I have the ability to tune the truck if needed but I would like to wait until I get headers.

Ok, what do you guys think? Comments, suggestions, why or why not.

Thanks
Adam

it is know for more of a turbo cam but if you already have it go ahead and put it in, shoudl be about a 30hp increase at least

Yep it is. I have had the cam, correct pushrods needed, springs, gaskets, ect for the swap just sitting in my basement for the past 2 years so I’m thinking why not unless it affects daily driving a ton.

Thanks for the comments, looks like I’ll have something to do this weekend. Now I just need to get an ASP pulley since I’m already there.
