Default LS6 cam in 5.3?

Would it be worth it to stick an LS6 cam/springs in a 5.3?

It didnt do much for my 6 liter, but I would think that with the less displacement of the 5.3 it would act bigger. Probably raise your powerband quite a bit. As long as you have at least 3.73;s and a converter I would think it would be worthwile.

I had an 01 Ls6 cam and ran low 12's w/ it. I've heard that these cams have 2* retard ground into them. I'd like to degree one in a 5.3 and set it up for 2* advance. Bet that would work well in these trucks.

3.73 is no problem, i'll probably buy a converter pretty soon, and I can take care of the shift points. how many RWHP and TQ do you think i would be able to net from it?

Do a search for a post by oxidizer dealing with a z06 cam. He put one up on a dyno and found that it did make quite a bit more power above 4K rpms. Below 4K it didn't do a thing if I remember correctly.
