Default LS6 Cam

Does anyone know where I can get an Ls6 cam? Are they cheap? I've got a 99 5.3. Would I need new valves, pushrods, roller rockers or anything like that?

you can use everything you already have as far as valvetrin goes with the exception of replacing the valvesprings with ls6 style or better springs.

the ls6 cam is a cheap cam (~160 new i think.) Personally i think that is the only reason people buy them, they are not great cams for our trucks. You are either going to hate your low end torque afterwards, or you are going to buy 4.10 gears or a higher stalling torque converter. the 116lsa is just really big for our trucks.

i will agree that if your looking for a cheap cam this is a great choice, but obviously there are better cams out there for a price.

*edit* oh yeah, and u can pick it up from any dealership, or from www.sdpc2000.com (since they happen to be a sponser of the site <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> ) just be sure that you're not getting the 2002 z06 cam as it is even worse than the older ls6 cam

I think I've got a spare 01 LS6 cam.

It's stamped on the end:

0950
S 20
1057

$100 shipped gets it.

Hey Jay - OT question for you. Were the 6.0 heads you got off that cad motor stamped with the same casting as the other model 6 liter heads?

Hope things are going well for you.
