Default LS1 in a truck

Has anyone put an LS1 in their truck or know someone who has? I think it would be well worth it! If so what all is involved and what kind of gains did they get out of it?

There have been a couple of people do it , but they didn't post much on the gains. I was thinking of doing this, but may just do something with the other 4.8 long block that I have.

Uhhhh....Don't '99 and up trucks come with LS1's already in them. 4.8, 5.3, 6.0L are all LS1 based. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

But technically this is the breakdown:
4.8 - LR4
5.7 - LS1
5.3 - LM7
6.0 - LQ4
LQ9....Escalade's only

Oh I see, you want to get all technical on me. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

So I'm going to have a "Mutt-motor" (LQ4 heads, LS1 block) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

If you get any infomation on this subject please notify me. I am also going to try this swap. I know that you need to swap the oil pan however, it will bolt right up. Exhaust manifolds and the intake manifold will also bolt up.
I am going to install a comp cam with 206 and 212 lsa 112 have the heads ported and polished. I hope to install this engine by the end of the year.

truck: I'm on that same schedule and you are correct about the oil pan. While your at it, why don't you do headers too.

That combo has been done in the cars and with great results.
"Mutt-Motor" that's funny <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I am hoping to have headers by that time. What do you think about my cam choice? Oil pan and exhaust manifold gasket are the same part numbers as a corvette. I am also going to install a 75 shot of juice. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Have you looked HERE ? Check his CAM page. Lots of good info. I'm not all that cam savy (yet), so I don't want to mislead you. But that one sounds rather mild if your talking about the 5.7 block and 6.0 heads. I would probably start somewhere around a 212/214. You don't plan on towing do you ? If so , maybe your choice will be the right one.
