Default ls1 swap

What all do you have to change with the ls1? It will bolt to the 60e with no problems correct. What about the computer i already have a nelson tune so I would just have to get an update for the ls1 right? What else is necessary? If i were to get a short or long block what all will go right over? thanks in advance already used the search button.

Everything will bolt up to the LS1 block except for one bolt on the A/C bracket--but ther are four others there to hold it in!

I would try to get a long block if possible. Just slap your intake, exhaust and accessories on the aluminum block and go to town. You'll love the low end torque!

You dont need a long block all you need is a short block. I just got my LS1 on a couple of days ago. If you popped the hood everything looks exactly the same except the block is aluminum and it sits maybe 1/4 of a inch farther from the fan shroud. Do it you wont regret it!

Everything will bolt right up. Depending on what your plans are, you might want to look into getting a built trans put in at the same time. Im sure the ls1 would put the little 60e in its place pretty quick with some mods. As for tuning, it will run just fine with the Nelson tune you have in there. But if you really want to get the full potential out of the new engine, I would have Allen re-tune it. And like Scream said, you will LOVE the low end torque that comes with it.

I believe I read at one time there is a difference in the pistons, between some of the GenIII engines.

Is there a difference between the LS1 and LM7 ? (flat-top vs. dome/dish)

Did you guys use the LS1 oil pan when installing in a truck? (Do the truck pans and the LS1 pans have different dimensions?)

Yeah the LS1 pistons are a little bigger. I loved my LS1 for the 3 days it was up and running! Last week when I had my issue a few people PM'd me with some LS1 short blocks. Send a PM to twobit he has a couple of blocks for really cheap and some other LS1 goodies. I also some some LS1 shortblocks in the parts for sale section! Good luck!
