If it's "high", as in voltage present.... a resistor will probably need to be wired in between the manual switch and pin 42 to prevent damage to the PCM.

I may go toss a volt meter on mine later to see what it reads while fans are idle.

 

It should just be "open", as in "off", nothing there... When pin 42 provides ground to the fan relays, the relay sends power to the fans. When ground isn't present, the fans turn off... nothing would be beneficial from power being present at all...

You wouldn't want a resistor anywhere, but you could want a diode facing the manual switch from pin 42 if power were somehow present...

 

where can i find these relays for the e-fans. I tried auto zone and they didnt know what the hell i was talking about. I havent tried pep-boys or checkers, but I dont know how much help theyll be. If anyone can point me in the right direction id apreciate it. later guys

 

There just standard Bosch 30 amp relays. I can send you some if you like. I have a boatload of them.

Yes, the standard 87A relays are the ones you want. All auto parts stores have them... the source I like though are car audio/electronics stores since they do a lot of work with motorization and alarms that require relays to work. We used to buy them by the gross when I worked at a car audio shop...

Wow, thanks! Those were cheap, but not quite as cheap after shipping charges. Oh well, saves me gas to go run out to the audio shop... Could have probably gotten some from fast4popper here in town too...
