i've heard good things about it. i have what seems like a good deal where i can get in on it. i just have a few questions first.
1. i only have 8k miles on the truck now and still a good bit of warranty. will ls1 edit void my warranty and if so is there an easy way to cover it up if i have to take the truck in?
2. is it as easy to use as hypertech or do i have to have someone that knows what they are doing?
3. since i won't have the program at my disposal 24 hours a day 7 days a week how long does it typically take to do some simple tuning? is it a lot of tune then test then retune or is it pretty easy to get it right the first time?
thanx for the help guys

not sure about the warenty part but i doubt they would notice or care, they may reflash your pcm if they have some kind of an update and then you will have to reload your changes but that is no big deal.
as far as easy to use, not really, stuff like shift points and rev limiter and speed limiter are very easy, geting rid of TM was easy too. geting more power from timing and fuel curves i think will be dificult, there is no pre loaded program like the HPP3 but there are alot of people around here to help.
you can load the software on to your home pc so you can take all the time you want making changes. you will only need the cable when it is time to load the changes onto your truck. it only takes about 5min to load the changes but they tell you to do a test read to confirm a good conection and on my truck that takes about 20min, so i would say to do it right takes less than 1/2 hour. i just got a ls1 edit bonus!! they sent me some updated software that includes alot of new features, i hope they have more updates

so if white53gmc buys ls1 edit with the extra vin#s for me and a friend, will me and my friend have to use his computer? or will it be possible to load it onto my own laptop that i should be getting soon (obiviously can't use the desktop)

you can put the software on as many computers as you like, then you can all take your sweet *** time deciding what changes to make, not sure how far the people you want to share with are away from you but i would just make changes at home, save them to a floppy and then run over to your friends house that has the laptop and cable and save the changes to your pcm there. you can put it on your laptop if you want but you are going to have to go over and get the cable anyways. i found it best to put it on a cheap dedicated laptop with no other software loaded into it, that way you only have to go in once and get rid of the screen savers, batery savers, any automatic program.
i can try and send you a copy of the software and a copy of my original pcm flash file so you can see how it all works, it wont let you do anything to your truck because you need the special cable for that. i will have to send it later though, time for work now.

i keep hearing to buy ls1edit instead of spending 300 or so on a new hpp3...
then i make up my mind that im getting a hpp3
then i read something about ls1edit and it makes me want to find a cheap, yet capable laptop and buy ls1edit.
jeez
how much am i looking at for ls1edit for my truck and my cousins 4wd?

LS1Edit isnt cheap. I am goin in on it with a couple of friends. LS1Edit for use on 1 PCM is $550 and $100 dollars for each additional PCM. I found these prices at www.carputing.com ! Im not sure of the differences in programming abilities on the HPP3 and LS1Edit. Anyways, there is a list of programmable parameters on the carputing website.

by my calculations at those prices if 3 guys wanted to go in on ls1 edit together it would only be $250 per person. that blows the price of the HPP3 out the water. if its only 2 guys the price is still $325 a piece. 325 still aint bad..i believe you can do a whole lot more with ls1 edit than you can with the HPP3. its just making sure i find someone who knows what they're doin before i blow my engine up.
