LS1 Comp Cam 228/225 .588/.569 112LSA

i would do it. might be a little big if anything as far as drivability is concerned but i say go for it. Are the springs and the cam new?

That's a big 'ol cam for a 4.8. I'm running 228 ex. duration with my 4.8, and I honestly think its too much. I see you do some off roading, and that cam will kill what little tq the 4.8 makes. Expect your power band to start at 4000rpm. My cam is 219/228-112 and it only pulls 9 in Hg at idle. I would expect that cam to idle even worse, so your power brakes are questionable too.

The springs aren't a bad price either. I'd at least nab those up.

the springs are new
the cam is used. inquiring the amount of miles now

i go offroad once every 3 months..i hammer it 3 times every day

thinkin about getting them both. and its a 4.8 my powerband starts at 3800 stock...so 200rpms wont kill me lol. just get it tuned to redline later.

well i dont mind bad driveability...i drove a 74 pontiac with a 400 in it DAILY..8mpg YAY i miss it though

what kind of 'gains' should i expect with this cam? this also gives me enough leftover to get some used headers and a tune.

Personally wouldnt go that big in a 4.8 the cam in my sig was a bit much for my heavy *** truck and that cam is a good bit bigger. You will gain alot more and I would bet it would pull till the high 6000s but it would be a dog down low. If the price is right try it out if you dont like it take it out sell it and get another one till you find the one you like. IMO the springs are the biggest PITA of a cam install if you are putting aftermarket springs in. I would offer him 130 for the springs I got a set brand new with retainers and locks for 165.

how much of a bog-down. think ill go run my truck through the gears and see hwo low my RPMS go between shifts etc...i know i got on it the other day against my friend in his colorado cuz he thought he MIGHT be able to hang. well i got the best launch i've ever done, quick slip of the clutch at 5k rpms, some tire chirp and it never got below 4800 before i shiftd to 2nd and it went downt o liek 4200 i think....not sure on 3rd gear...never ran it through 2nd and cared to look at the Tach when i shift to 3rd...all i know is 2nd takes me to liek 55mph or something. think ill buy it.

That cam seems a little extreme for a daily driven 4.8 IMO...would be great if you're putting the mill in a street rod or something, cause it'll sound mean as hell.
