LS timing chain?
#1
I'm putting a new cam/lifters in my 2000 4.8 along with fresh 862 heads on it. Want to put a new timing set on it also. Anyone use the Cloyes C3210 or PCI TS33210 sets? If so what's your feedback?

I am pretty sure almost anything is better then stock, I would get a whole set as the stock gears even with a good chain still always seem to have excessive slack. I would like to measure how many degrees off a stock set is when loaded, I am going to do that next time I have a chance. I bet its at least a couple degrees which is significant.

Even though stock chains all have slack, it's pretty rare that you hear of someone ever having a timing chain issue. With all these guys just slamming junkyard motors and running them, the chains normally never come up in the conversation of why the motor blew.

Very true, problem is if you try to actually spec a cam for your combo it won't keep the same valve events with that much slack in the timing set.

GM LS2 chain and yes the TFS dampener because it's good insurance and inexpensive. I put one on mine.
You can replace the gears but most don't...you'll want the removal tool for the lower but I've seen guys do it with 3 jaw pullers.
