Vin code U = LQ4 6.0, vin code N = LQ9 6.0 , Right rear of block behind flywheel will also have 4.8/5.3 or 6.0l in casting for id. Have him take a picture of the rear of engine. Still wont be able to tell if Vin U or N

I email the guy asking to clarify what it came out of and this is his response.

It was pulled from a Silverado (per the document that came with it). It is a LQ9 as evidenced by the VIN: 1GCHK23U62F212215. Character eight in the VIN is the engine code U - 6.0 L - V8. There is only ONE 6.0 L option for trucks.

Do a Yahoo search on VIN CODES FOR GM TRUCKS. Go to the List of GM VIN codes several sites explain how to read the VIN angelfire is nice.

An LQ4 is a T engine code and it is a 5.3 L.

If you have further questions call me at 847 980 4478
I replied back to him, fixing a few of his errors and send him a link to: http://www.automotiverebuilder.com/ar/eb040538.htm

hahaha this is wat he said back to me

Who do you think you are interfering in real transactions? Your parents failed you the ethics department. Maybe you'll leave the comic book club and start researching before you misspeak (write in this case) in a few years. I have reported your lie to eBay and request you be removed from their system.

Oh well, let them get screwed. Serves them right for you trying to help them.

Its funny that the highest bidder would say that to you for giving him the heads up.
How much you want to bet that the highest bidder is the same guy selling the motor. He's probably got another account setup just to jack up the bids on his item in order to raise the selling price.

Using his vin: 1GCHK23U62F212215

and this decoder

http://gm-diesel.com/diesel/misc/GMC...d_%20Burbs.xls

It shows LQ4

And according to this like
http://service.gm.com/gmspo/mode6/index.html
The LQ9 only started being available in 2003. No LQ9 existed in <2003. Maybe there list is incomplete. The guy said it came from a 2002 HD.
