The LQ9 is in and has been for about 5 days. I had my pcm tuner do the install since he was selling the motor and I do not have time or confidence for this undertaking. Plus, he bought my motor so I didnt have to worry about trying to store/sell/ship it.
While the motor was out, I had him swap cams to a TSP 224r on a 112, 160 thermostat, and underdrive pulleys. My exhaust, torque converter, gearing, and cai stayed the same.
The day the install was to be completed, I talked to the installer. He gave me the good news, bad news scenerio. The good news was the install went flawless. The bad new while doing the street tune, the transmission was slipping it *** off. He was able to get three WOT runs to 100 and that was about it. The trans works fine under normal driving conditions. But, go WOT will cause it to slip. However, I can roll into in first and begin to break them loose at 3/4 throttle with 285 30.5" tall tires at 20 mph. I need to have my transmission looked at for a rebuilt/replacement.
But, as far as daily driving, I couldnt be happier. Having 2600 stall, along with gearing, it drives nearly stock (except for slight vehicle shake at idle from 112 lsa). The exhaust is defintely louder and a lot deeper. It has the deep harley sound. It turns heads when I pull in anywhere.
