LQ4 maf tube assembly

Can anyone tell me the purpose of the various chambers within the plastic maf sensor air inlet tube for my LQ4? There's a large chamber that hangs down and a smaller off to the front/

your talkin bout the baffles in the air intake tube. that has nothing to do with the maf sensor. those baffles are there to quiet the intake noise
