LQ4 or LS6
Man, I've been thinking of this for a while and I don't know which to do. I'm planning on swapping one of these motors into my truck this winter and I don't know which would be better. The only motor mods I plan to do is put a cam and maybe heads for the internal work, probably Volant intake with custom true dual exhaust from headers to tailpipe for external work and Edit for electronics. I'd like to take a Radix intake manifold and make an adapter plate for a Whipple 3300AX compressor but only if I can get these for a decent price, and that will probably be next summer. Also, next summer, a 4L80E conversion if my 4L60E survives until then.
I hardly race although I sometimes drive really aggressively. I mostly just cruise. I'd like to really stomp on some cars when I want to and also be able to pop the hood and get some "damn"s. What do you guys think?

Yeah a 6.0 is going to be cheaper, if you're set on an aluminum block...why not an LS1? They are more plentiful and if you're going to do a cam sway anyway it's senseless to get and spend the extra cash on an LS6.
Also, that motor's compression is over 10.5:1 that's BAD for any boost.

Maybe I should add aluminum 8.5:1 pistons onto my list. No big deal, I'd install all of the internal stuff myself before I drop the motor in. Is the only difference between the LS1 and LS6 the cam? Also what is the weight difference between iorn and aluminum blocks.

i'd go lq4
cheaper, bigger bore, lower compression ratio
i heard, 100lbs=10hp. all the money you will save doing the 364ci will give you enough to pick up some 10hp, and theres a gazillion weight saving techniques.
