Hey guys, dissasembling my first genIII to send to machine shop. It is a '01 LQ4 w/ #317 alum. heads. I have everything apart/off but I can not get the heads off. I have removed all 10 headbolts + the 3 little 10MM bolts near the intake and even with some soft prying these heads wont budge. I tried tapping a screwdriver between the heads & block but it starts to score the aluminum.
Am I missing something or is there a trick to these? Thanks for the help!

there should be 5 of the 10mm bolts

 

Yep....15 bolts total on each head.

 

Many thanks, I just went down & checked-there were 3 more of those bolts that were covered in crud so deep I could not see them. After taking those out the heads came right off!!!

Off to the machine shop we go, thanks!
