Default LQ4 build???

I have a stock LQ4 in my sons 98 s10 that we building. I plan on putting a 4l80e behind it and a converter. Also plan to put either 3.73 or 4.10 gears. It will be his truck to go back and forth to school and work and on weekends bring it to the track for drag races and auto crossing for fun.

My question here has to do with the rebuild of the LQ4. This is the plan as of now but im still researching and things will change. I plan on putting a set of hand ported 243 milled .025" and .040" cometic gasket to get me a lil over 11.1, 216º/220º Duration @ 0.050. 0.560"/0.560" lift 114º lobe sep, going to keep the truck intake and plan on getting bigger injectors and TB to match my setup. Things like ptv, pushrods, piston out the bore @tdc ect ect will all be check to make sure all my clearances are safe to proceed. Does this look like a good combo and what would you do different. Thanks

I've added this pic of said s10 and LQ4 don't worry i know it needs to be cleaned up. After i mod everything up then ill take it out to clean, paint and powdercoat...

Turn it into a 370 lol. Looks like a solid setup. Maybe a little bigger cam wouldnt hurt the lighter truck.

That's going to be one bad little s10. I agree you could probably go a little bigger with the cam 220/224 or 224/228. Of course you will need a larger stall, however you can get away with the stock stall with the 216/220. I would think 3.73s would be a better option due to that 6.0 is going to blow the tires off with tq and 4.10s probably would help with traction.

Is the intake a nnbs with an 87-90mm tb or nbs with 78mm tb? Either way I would save the money and stick with the stock tb and do a diy port on it. You might gain 5hp from a larger throttle body, but you probably wont notice the difference driving around.

Yea that's a great intake for a 6.0. It will pick up a solid 10-15rwhp over the nbs that is on it in the pic.

That's what im hoping for..... Want it to be nice lil sleeper even thought about getting a car intake so i could keep a stock style hood. Think once i get the nnbs intake might try mod under the factory hood.

The car intakes look better IMO but the truck intakes are the best intake for lowend tq/power most of the aftermarket and car intakes trade lowend power for more peak performance.

What size tires are you planning on running in the rear?
