Default lq4/9 help please

OK, so as can be seen, I'm new to the fuel injection world, maybe got in a little over my head. I bought the engine, and now I'm looking for parts, but don't know what exactly to be looking for. As far as I know the engine is from an 02 3500, but there were things missing. Wiring harness is done, so I'm going to buy one already made for the engine, and computer is gone, so again, buying one. Intake is on there, but there is no TB or MAF. I don't even know where the MAF bolts to, ugh.

I'm trying to figure out what MAF and TB I can use on this, or do I need a maf? Also, looking at the Intake, there is a hole in the front(where TB goes I assume) but there is also a second hole on the passenger side, about the size of a quarter, maybe a bit bigger, but I don't know what its for.

I've also found the cam out of an 04 zo6, with springs and pushrods, will this slide into the motor, or do I need a different one? Starter is gone, so I don't know what will swap with it either. Spark plug wires and coil packs are mangled, need to find what interchanges with those as well?

Any help would be appreciated guys as I'm trying to get this all together in the next 3 weeks or so to drop in my car (before I've got to do something with emissions

Thanks, and if you have available parts, let me know

Otis

Swap is going into an 86 Monte Carlo SS, I bought a good chunk of the stuff, EFI fuel tank/Grand national fuel pump, electric fans, motor and trans, like I said, its the other stuff, I don't want to get too deep into the wallet yet until I learn more about the engines, right now just want to get the motor together.

Yep, TB bolts on the front. The one on the side is probably the EGR which can be blocked off.

Lots of sources for these parts.

First check the sponsors ---->
Then check the For Sale section here and also LS1Tech.com
Then sites like car-part.com, gmpartshouse.com, rockauto.com, etc

With all the parts you will need, it might be cheaper to find a longblock that is more complete. Probably find one for around $1000.

Cam and springs will work, You can grab a starter from basically any ls based motor.
what are you doing for your transmission?

trans is a 4l80 2wd from the same motor.

Went to local salvage yard and picked up everything but tb and starter, how nice

Got the following for 415 bucks from a 2000 suburban/2001 silverado both with the 5.3

ps pump
alternator and bracket
plug wires
coil packs
ECU
wiring harness
MAF

I'm sending the harness and ecu off to wait4meperformance to have it reworked, downside is its off a 4x4 truck instead of a 2x4, hopefully he can take care of that though. They had the TB but after researching the genteman said it was the wrong size because it was from a 5.3 instead of a 6.0, so the question is what size do I need? I'm guessing after much reading, a 90mm?

You are correct, the hole is EGR, after looking and looking, I finally figured that one out, I'm a bit slow. Again, any and all help would be appreciated, and thanks for the responses thus far, it helps me know what to look for when looking for parts on other message boards

I would repost this in the conversion & swap area on LS1Tech.Lots of G Body info there.Yes use the cheapest LS starter you can find.Do not buy used ZO6 (yellow) springs, they are like $70 new.Make sure wait4me mods the harness for your choice of injector and coil plugs.I think the round truck coils are the best coils, but you would not see a difference until 400+ HP I believe.

Any starter will work, but do be advised that the 5.7 and 6.0 use a more powerful starter than the 4.8 and 5.3. I've been told the 4.8/5.3 starter works just fine on the 6.0 though.
