Default LQ4 and 10.1+ CR

im doing an lq4 build up, just want to know if it cheaper to mill the heads .040-.045 or get the LQ9 pistons?

this is going in my 98 camaro. you guys think 400rwhp and 400rwtq are possible with:

new LQ4 longblock w/10.1 CR
FMS FM13 230/232 .591/.585 112
ls6 intake
jet hot LT
3" true duals, x-pipe and 12" bullets
asp pulley
tune

through the t-56 and stock 3.42's

Milling the heads would be a lot cheaper, but it depends which heads you plan to use LQ4 heads have 71cc chambers, while stock LS1 heads are 67cc,if you run LS1 heads you may already be close to 10:1 compression without changing the pistons or milling the heads.400 rwhp and rwtq should be pretty easy.

I'd prefer to go with the LQ9 stuff so you'd get a stronger rod, and the piston would have a flat top for a better quench. An LQ9 bottom end with LS1 heads would be just over 10.5:1 compression.

i was either gonna go with the lq9 pistons, rods, and rings for 400 or mill the heads on the lq4 and keep the dished pistons.

my application wont see any boost or n2o, so im sure the lq4 bottom end will hokd up.

i thought the only difference between the lq4 and lq9 was the pistons.

and i gotta say yu are the man tex, you answered alot of my questions already by me using the search button

Hey man, no prob. Thanks.

Take a look at this auction by valvegod:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Notice the rods? Look at he heafty shoulders and thicker beams. Compare them to a standard GENIII rod from an LS1/6 or LQ4 adn you'll see the difference.
