Low, almost no backpressure

HELLOOOOO....HELLOOOO......
The only mods he has that is worth a damn are headers and a tune and he's goin mid 14's in tx heat.I honestly dont see the problem here...
Put a convertor in the truck IMO..
What headers are on the truck?
Does it have a posi rearend?
have you run it with slicks?

True, look at a converter, and a cam that would take advantage of all the breathing room he has created up top! OR F.I. !!!

I'm running the pacesetter headers I believe they're 1 3/4 primaries. It does not have the G-80, and no I haven't ran it with slicks, there's no need to the truck doesn't have enought torque off the line to brake the tires loose. I'm running some hankook ventus on my stock 17's they're 275/60R17

I say just increase the airflow to match the exhaust you have
On a side note my truck ran a 14.1 @ 96 with CAI, 1 3/4 x 3 longtubes, ORY w/ 4" straight through exhaust and a mail order tune. Full weight plus some extra. Way oversized for my setup and still had traction problems. I'm not convinced that too little backpressure hurts you much.

who cares about backpressure. it's all about the exhaust gas velocity and where you want your power curve. you can make up for a lack of low-end with a bigger converter or deeper gears. it's whatever pulls your trigger.

full bolt ons/exh and cam WITHOUT a stall (bad idea) i was running 14.2s. 3600 stall and a better tune, ended up running a 13.2 and theres still room to get it down. That stall will make all of the difference.
Theres a guy on here running his 4.8 w/o a cam and has bolt ons/exh and is running 14.0s in this hot assed weather. But to run that 14.0 he has a torque converter, once he does the cam hes expecting another 3-4 tenths knocked off and in cooler weather he can expect to see even better.
If you're trying to compare 60ft runs and are on street tires you might as well just forget it, lol. If you add power and want the 60fts to go down it wont happen unless you can hook.
