i bought a set of used valve springs and installed them with my new cam. my question is how noisy are they supposed to be?? mine are loud as crap.. is this normal for a set of used springs or is something else wrong??

 

What springs are these? My comp cams 918's sound like a sewing machine.

 

they are not the 918s.... i dont remember what kind the guy told me they were.... i bought the heads and spring combo from him... he said they would hold up to a 600 lift cam. they might be the patriots or something like that but they are not the dual springs

 

What do they look like? Golden, painted, metallic, beehive shaped, etc...

Valvetrain noise can be due to a number of factors. Pushrods, cam profile, lifters, and proper geometry could play a factor?

After a cam swap the added valvetrain noise is normally the cam profile. Most people describe it as a "sewing machine" sound.
