Default Lost Faith in Volant

Has everyone lost faith in Volant even after the redesign?

Looking for a sealed intake for my Bro's Denali.
I don't want to use the KN or another open element kit due to the horrible salt up here in the winter time.
It gets over everything inside the engine compartment.

I might get another UPD.
Outlaw and Varam look cool as well.

Or i might just get a drop in filter.

I would take the last option. I just do not belive in these intake systems anymore I mean, has anyone seen real life power? I think they are just noise that cost money.

I would get a UPD.

The stock air box is actually a cold air setup, it draws air from the fender. No need to replace the box, excellent design.

The restriction in the intake is the flexible accordian like air tube from the box to the TB.

UPD's replace it with a smooth, rigid air tube wich complements the already excellent air box design.

The only thing lacking is the cone style filter used by volant and K&N which they claim straightens out the air flow.
I think the stock MAF does a pretty good job of this already.

As far as power gains, it is debatable (not meaning I want to start a debate about it now--thank you).
Although, I can see the smooth air tube allowing a better velocity of air flow, which can translate into more TQ and better MPG's.

I am not sure of the program in the truck, but in the corvette, the maf has firmware to compensate for the accrodian style coupler. When you replace it without tuning, you often encounter surging on decel and irratic idle.
