Default loose power?

Is ot true that you loose power through the transfer case if its 4wd, or is that not a true fact? Can anyone explain?

Thanks,

more mass has to rotate when there is a tranfer case so i would say you will certainly lose power

how much?

maybe 10?

3% would be my guess

Also, the extra friction of the gears.

Default About 15%...

...is what the 4x4's loose from the crankshaft rating. I was told this by a Dyno operator and it held pretty close to what mine did between the stock Dyno run and the GM crankshaft rating.

So is this 15% total or 15% + on top of what you are already loosing it being a 2wd?? Ex: say you loose 10% to the wheels (being 2wd) and if it's (4 wd) you loose 25% (10% + 15%=25%) to the wheels? I may be looking into this too much but I just want to understand it.

15% in addition to what you already lost. Thats when in 4hi. You have more rotational mass. And that is wheel hp, not crank hp. It just takes more power to get through that extra friction.
