Default got the pacesetters and ory installed!

well it took all frakin day but i finally got them in. waht a pain in the ****! note to self: if i ever do this again, make sure it is on a new truck with no rust on the flanges and get a set of air tools!

i took it for a spin with just the headers on and holy $#@ this thing sounds crazy! i put the ory on and it tamed it a bit, but i cant seem to get the y-pipe to seal well. i got the good band type clamps, but they dont seem to hold the pipe on well even when i get them as tight as i can. am i doing something wrong?

oh the sims i got have male connectors? while the sensors they are replacing have female? so i cant plug the sims in, i guess they sent the wrong ones! it hasnt thrown a code yet so i guess it aint a biggie.

next is a magnaflow i think, i wanna be able to hodl a convo on the highway! time to go drive some more!

are you using the pre-formed band clamps? those have a step-down fabbed into them for the OD/ID connections. i also took a hacksaw and cut 4 small slits in an X/+ fashion on y-pipe where the collector slips inside. this will allow the y-pipe to collapse around the collector and seal pretty good. only made them about an 1 1/2" long so they would not extend pass the band clamp.

yeah, I have not got mine to seal completely either. I am getting a small leak on the driver's side. I am going to do something to remedy the leak but have not decided what. I am going to try to get some flanges welded up or something.

I saw in a magazine install where the put some like RTV Silicon Hi Temp adhesive on the exhaust pipes before the stuck them together to prevent leaks, I would look into it.

hmmm i think ill try cutting those slits, if that doesnt work, then i will try the sealant, and then if that doesnt do it, i guess ill have to get flanges welded on.....oh well...id kinda like to get the y-pipe modded anyways later on...right now i have a single 3" cutout after the y-pipe, but iw ould like to have a cutout after each header, and id also like to have a spot to put at least one removable cat that way when inspection comes around i cant be leagal. damn i freakin love this thing!!!!! oh, and i was also thinking of getting it tuned since all i have now is this crummy hypertech....is getting a real tune gonna really help out with headers and such?

is that where they machine out the oval exhaust ports on the block so they match the circle ports of the header?

well after driving around for 2 days i must say im rather disappointed at the low end...it feels like i lost some...i havent done too much high end driving but it does seem to pull a little harder up high. the clamps are definately not holding so today i will cut some x's in the y-pipe like suggested....

i am a bit concerned because it smells and feels like it is running really rich. i think im gonna get allen at nelson tune to tune it this week when i go home to san antonio. also, im not running any sims cuz i got sent ones with male connectors and i need female...so i have the rear sensors hooked up, but im not getting any codes...whats up with that?

would napa, oreilly's, autozone, pep boys, etc carry the permatex hi temp ultra copper rtv silicone?
I think this would solve my problem for now. I may get a custom y made with cats later down the road.
