On the 5.3, a PCM tune that removes TM and abuse modes along with leaning out the PE tables will add power and torque.

Torque converters with higher stall rpms can really help 60 ft and 1/4 mile times, some can drop them by 1/2 a sec.or more in the 1/4.

A swap to 4.10 gears will have you going thru the traps at about 4800 rpm with a 28" tire.

Adding a shot of nitrous via a nozzle place in front of the MAF sensor will help the 1/4 mile times as well, if you have a 1999 truck, the injectors are only 19 lb/hr so dont add too much N2O. The newertrucks have larger fuel injectors so you can add a bit more of a dry shot.
The MAFS sense the increased airflow and temp decrease due to the nitrous, teh PCM then tells teh injectors to add more fuel. the injectors add the extra fuel in dry shot.
Dont spray under 3000 rpm, but with a dry shot, manifold explosions arent going to happen.
If you add 24 lb/hr injectors and run 60 psi of fuel pressure, you will have enough fuel for 480 hp total crank hp on the gas.

peace
